Ep 1. Episode 1

In the debut episode of "Home Before Dark," we are introduced to Hilde Lisko, a nine-year-old girl who has taken after her father and become a budding journalist. Hilde moves with her family from Brooklyn to her father's hometown in Washington where she soon becomes intrigued by a missing person's case in the small town of Erie Harbor.

The citizens of Erie Harbor, including the police department, seem to be ignoring the case of Richie Fife, a boy who disappeared after a fight with his best friend, Trip. Hilde, who has a knack for sniffing out stories, becomes convinced that there is more to Richie's disappearance than meets the eye.

With the help of her new friend, Donny, and her tech-savvy older sister, Izzy, Hilde sets out to uncover the truth about Richie's disappearance. Her investigation takes her to local hangouts, abandoned buildings, and even a creepy carnival. Along the way, she faces roadblocks from adults who don't take her seriously because of her age.

Despite this, Hilde's persistence pays off when she stumbles upon a clue in the woods that leads her to a shocking discovery. As the episode ends, Hilde shares her findings with her father, a former journalist who seems to have put his investigative skills on hold.
