Director Carvin Eison's gripping 2004 film 'July '64' examines the Rochester race riots that broke out on July 24, 1964, after the police clashed with a man at a party. The National Guard was called in to help restore order and more than 900 people were arrested. The film combines archival footage with interviews with those who share their experiences, including journalist Warren Doremus, former Third Ward Supervisor Constance Mitchell, and Frank Lamb, the city's mayor in 1964.
