Sasha and her ex-boyfriend Terrence have been having a heated argument for months over who is the owner of a car they purchased together while they were still dating. Sasha claims that the car is hers because she has been solely responsible for making all the payments on the vehicle since the breakup, while Terrence argues that he should have a share in the vehicle's ownership since he also helped pay for it early on. They have both decided to take their case to Judge Faith to help them settle the matter once and for all.
Judge Faith initially hears Sasha's side of the story, who tells the judge that she purchased the car for her personal use and that Terrence only helped her to make the initial down payment. She claims that after they broke up, Terrence stopped making payments on the car, leaving her to shoulder the financial burden on her own. Sasha provided evidence of the bank statements and checks that proved she had been paying for the car, and argued that Terrence had no right to the car anymore since he had not contributed financially beyond the initial payment.
Terrence, on the other hand, argued that he should have equal ownership of the vehicle because they bought the car together and intended to share it equally. He claimed that he contributed to the car's monthly payments for some time and was only unable to continue making the payments because of financial difficulties following the breakup. Terrence provided the judge with his own evidence, including bank statements that showed he had also been making payments towards the car.
As the trial went on, Judge Faith listened to both sides of the story carefully before realizing that the case wasn't as straightforward as it seemed. She reasoned that the car was jointly purchased by both parties, even if it was originally intended for Sasha's personal use. Judge Faith also noted that both parties had contributed financially to the car's purchase and payments to some degree, which made it even more complicated.
Finally, after weighing all arguments and analyzing all the available evidence, Judge Faith made a ruling in favor of both parties. She ruled that Sasha was entitled to keep the car but that Terrence owned a share of the vehicle as well. She allocated ownership of the car to Sasha with a 60-40 split in favor of Sasha's ownership since she had been paying the bulk of the car's monthly installments for longer.
In the end, while neither party got all they wanted, Judge Faith felt that the ruling was fair and equitable. She advised the parties to put their past differences aside, make peace with each other, and move on from the matter. The case demonstrated that even with the best intentions, financial disagreements among couples can be contentious and hard to resolve. But with a wise and just ruling, Judge Faith was able to help both parties move on from the dispute, and hopefully, they can resolve financial issues peacefully in the future.
