Ep 7. Sneak Attack

Kim's Convenience season 2 episode 7 "Sneak Attack" continues the hilarious and heartwarming storyline of the Kim family and their convenience store located in Toronto's Korean community.

As the episode begins, we see that Mr. Kim (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) has decided to take a break from working at the store and go on a mini-vacation with his wife, Mrs. Kim (Jean Yoon). This leaves the store in the capable hands of their two children, Janet (Andrea Bang) and Jung (Simu Liu).

However, things quickly go awry as Janet becomes obsessed with catching a shoplifter that has been stealing from the store. She enlists the help of her friend Gerald (Ben Beauchemin) to set up a "sting operation" to catch the thief in the act.

Meanwhile, Jung is dealing with his own issues as his ex-girlfriend, Shannon (Nicole Power), starts working at a car rental company across the street from the store. Jung struggles with seeing Shannon every day and tries his best to avoid her, but it becomes increasingly difficult as they keep running into each other.

As the episode progresses, we see the various ways that the characters try to handle their respective problems. Janet becomes increasingly obsessed with catching the shoplifter, to the point where her schoolwork and relationships start to suffer. However, she eventually realizes that she may have been wrong about the person she suspected of stealing and has to face the consequences of her actions.

Jung, on the other hand, finds himself slowly becoming drawn back to Shannon despite his best efforts. He starts to question why they broke up in the first place and whether they could possibly rekindle their relationship.

Throughout the episode, we also see the various humorous interactions between the different characters. Appa (Mr. Kim) and Umma (Mrs. Kim) provide their own comedic relief as they struggle to navigate the unfamiliar territory of their vacation destination. Janet and Gerald's attempts at catching the shoplifter are both ridiculous and endearing, as they bumble their way through the plan.

Overall, "Sneak Attack" is a great addition to the Kim's Convenience series. It continues to highlight the family dynamic that makes the show so endearing while introducing new plotlines and conflicts for the characters to navigate.
