In season 2, episode 3 of Knights of Sidonia titled "Course," the story takes its viewers on a thrilling ride. The episode begins with a fight scene, where we see Garde pilots engaging in a battle against Gauna, with Sidonia providing backup support.

After the battle, Nagate and Izana found out that they had missed the combat training session. Nagate had to attend a special lesson on space navigation. The lesson was conducted by Samari, who's known to be extremely strict and always ensures that her students have a good understanding of the subject.

Elsewhere, the program director Kobayashi gets informed about a new type of Gauna threat. The Gauna has developed an advanced weapon that can easily overpower Sidonia's current capabilities. Kobayashi orders Yuhata and the captain to activate Sidonia's advanced anti-Gauna weaponry known as the 'Ninja.' However, Kobayashi warns that the Ninja uses up a lot of energy and can only be activated once unless they make additional improvements.

As the episode progresses, we find Nagate struggling to pass the navigation lesson, but with the help of his friends, such as Izana and Sasaki, he manages to understand it better, which makes Samari happy. At that point, the audience comes to know more about Samari's past.

Later, the episode shows Tsumugi's character, a unique hybrid between a human and a Gauna, creating artwork. Tsumugi regards the art as a form of expression, something that brings joy to her. In the scene, she expresses that she wants to see Nagate's art too, but Nagate's embarrassed by his lack of skills, which prompts Tsumugi to offer to teach him.

Meanwhile, the alien threat continues to grow more significant, and the crew on Sidonia prepares for battle. The strategic meeting was held where Nagate was assigned to lead a small team that was to be in charge of analyzing the data and forewarning Sidonia of any new potential Gauna attacks.

Nagate, Izana, Sasaki, and a new character Leah working under the program director are assigned to prepare the framework for a new propulsion system that will be the first to use gravitational forces in space. Creating such a mechanism would significantly increase Sidonia's speed, opening up new possibilities for the ship that couldn't have been achieved before.

With the team's plan moving forward, Sidonia continues to travel through space, dodging asteroids along the way. As the episode draws to an end, a new Gauna mass appears close to Sidonia, putting them all in danger.

The ending of the episode leaves the audience on edge, eagerly anticipating the next episode to see how Nagate and his team will handle the new danger that awaits.

Overall, Knights of Sidonia season 2 episode 3 is an action-packed and plot-driven episode that reveals character development and their struggles in the midst of an intergalactic war. It leaves the viewers with the anticipation of what's to come- more battles, new opportunities, and deeper character growth.
