The Oakland Athletics are on the road to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays in an exciting matchup on Major League Baseball on MLB Network. Both teams have been struggling throughout the season, but as the playoffs approach, each game becomes more crucial in securing a spot in the postseason.

The A's have had a somewhat disappointing season thus far, but they're not out of the race yet. They are currently sitting in fourth place in the American League West with a record of 71-81. As they face off against the Blue Jays, they'll need to bring their A-game in order to come out on top.

The Toronto Blue Jays, on the other hand, have had a rollercoaster of a season. At times they've looked like they could make a run for the playoffs, but they've also had stretches where they've struggled to get wins. They're currently sitting in fourth place in the American League East with a record of 74-77. With the playoffs within reach, they'll be looking to take advantage of their home field advantage in this matchup against the A's.

As the game gets underway, both teams are looking to get on the board early. The A's send out Frankie Montas to start the game, while the Blue Jays counter with Robbie Ray. Both pitchers have had solid seasons, but it remains to be seen who will come out on top in this matchup.

The first inning goes by quickly, with both teams failing to score any runs. The second inning, however, sees some action. The Blue Jays are the first to strike, with a solo home run from Bo Bichette. The A's answer back with a double from Sean Murphy, who later scores on a sacrifice fly from Elvis Andrus.

The game remains tied at 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Blue Jays take the lead again. With two outs, George Springer hits a double, followed by a single from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that drives Springer in to score. The Blue Jays are now up 2-1.

The A's have a chance to tie it up in the top of the seventh inning, with runners on second and third and only one out. However, they're unable to score, and the Blue Jays lead remains intact.

The eighth inning sees some more action, as the Blue Jays add another run to their lead. With two outs, Marcus Semien hits a solo home run off A's reliever Jake Diekman. The Blue Jays are now up 3-1, and the A's will need to mount a comeback if they want to secure a win.

In the top of the ninth inning, the A's get a leadoff single from Jed Lowrie. However, they're unable to do anything with it, as the Blue Jays get three straight outs to secure the win. The final score is 3-1 in favor of the Blue Jays.

Overall, it was a solid game for both teams. The Blue Jays were able to take advantage of their home field, and their pitching kept the A's offense in check. The A's had some chances to score, but they were unable to capitalize on them. With the playoffs rapidly approaching, both teams will need to keep fighting if they hope to secure a spot in the postseason.
