In the first episode of season 2 of Not Going Out, titled "Mortgage," Lee and Kate have been together for a year and decide that it's time to buy a house. However, they soon realize that as a comedian and a freelance writer, respectively, they don't make enough money to secure a mortgage.
Determined to find a way to make it work, Lee comes up with a plan to get a loan by selling his flat to his friend Tim, who is a successful businessman. But despite Tim's confidence, Lee and Kate can't help but feel anxious about the deal.
