Ep 11. Humpty Dumped

Detective Andy Sipowicz and his partner Detective Connie McDowell investigate a case involving a body found in a dumpster. The victim is identified as a young woman who was pregnant. Their investigation leads them to a man who had recently broken up with the victim. He initially denies knowing anything about her murder, but eventually confesses to killing her.

Meanwhile, Detective John Clark Jr. and Detective Baldwin Jones investigate a case involving a man who was beaten to death. The victim's son is the prime suspect, but he claims he was defending himself from his abusive father. Clark and Jones must determine if the son's story is true or if he is lying to cover up his own guilt.

Elsewhere, Detective Jill Kirkendall is faced with a difficult personal decision when she learns that her ex-husband has been arrested for drug possession. Despite their rocky relationship, Kirkendall tries to help her ex-husband by finding a lawyer to represent him.

As the detectives work their cases, they also deal with personal issues. Sipowicz struggles with his newfound role as a father and his desire to be a good one, while McDowell deals with the aftermath of her husband's death. Clark reconnects with his ex-girlfriend, but their relationship is put to the test when they realize they have different goals in life.

In the end, the detectives are able to solve their cases, but not without facing difficult moral and emotional dilemmas along the way. NYPD Blue continues to explore the complex and nuanced lives of the detectives who put their lives on the line to keep the city safe.
