A bicyclist named May is on her way to get her first Pokemon from Professor Birch. But secretly, May has no love for Pokemon--she just wants to see the world! She has to wait, though, because Professor Birch is busy trying to cure Ash's Pikachu of its electric overcharge. Pikachu runs off into the woods, mad with fever, and Ash and Professor Birch must find it before it's too late! At what seems like the worst possible moment, the villains of Team Rocket attack and grab Pikachu, but their electricity-sapping machine turns out to be just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately, May's bike is zapped to a crisp in the battle. Team Rocket blasts off again, and Ash sets out on his journey in the Hoenn region, with novice Trainer May and her new partner Torchic as his traveling companions!
