The show Primal Survivor takes us on a journey as survival expert Hazen Audel explores the most remote and dangerous places on earth as he lives off the land, and experiences different cultures. In episode 4 of season 1, titled "Into Raging Water," Hazen finds himself in a remote region of the Philippines where the land is covered with dense jungle and the rivers are treacherous.
At the beginning of the episode, Hazen is dropped off in a small village and greeted by locals who are eager to help him on his journey. Hazen explains that he needs to cross a raging river to get to his next destination, and the locals are hesitant to take him across. They warn him that the river is prone to flash floods and the currents are powerful, but Hazen is determined to make it across.
Hazen sets out on the river with two local guides who are expert swimmers, but as soon as they hit the water, it becomes clear that the journey is going to be perilous. The rain has caused the water level to rise, and the current is rough. Hazen struggles to keep his footing as the river gushes around him, and he clings to a stick to stay afloat.
As they approach a narrow passageway flanked by steep cliffs, the guides warn Hazen that it's the most dangerous section of the river. Hazen takes a deep breath and braces for impact as they enter the rapids. The water crashes against the rocks and the boat is thrown around like a toy, but Hazen manages to stay aboard.
After making it through the rapids, they come to a section of the river that is too narrow for the boat. The guides instruct Hazen to swim through the rapids to the other side, and he dives into the water. Hazen swims as hard as he can against the current but quickly realizes that the guides have disappeared. He's alone in the middle of the raging river, and he struggles to keep his head above water.
Finally, Hazen reaches the other side of the river, exhausted and disheveled but relieved to have made it across. The guides reappear, grinning as they congratulate Hazen on a successful crossing. They hike through the jungle to a remote village where Hazen will learn to live off the land with a local family.
Hazen's experience in the jungle is undoubtedly a challenging one. He has to learn how to hunt wild animals, build shelter, and start a fire without any access to modern technology. The family take him under their wing, and he quickly finds himself learning from them.
In the village, Hazen is put to the test as he attempts to start a fire using only natural materials. After several attempts, he finally manages to ignite a spark and kindle a flame. The family is impressed with his efforts, and they go on to teach him how to make traditional weapons to catch game and defend himself against predators.
Throughout the episode, Hazen demonstrates remarkable resilience and resourcefulness as he faces one of the most challenging experiences of his life. He faces his fears as he crosses the raging river, and he learns important survival skills from the family in the remote village. By the end of the episode, Hazen has a newfound respect for the people and the land that he's encountered.
