In Primal Survivor season 5 episode 4, titled "Masters of Fire," host Hazen Audel travels to the remote jungles of Indonesia to learn ancient fire-making techniques from the Dayak people.

Hazen begins his journey by meeting with a local guide who leads him on a trek through dense jungle terrain to a traditional Dayak longhouse. There, he meets with a tribal elder who teaches him about the importance of fire in Dayak culture and how it has been central to their survival in the wilderness for centuries. The elder shares stories of how fire was used to ward off predators, cook food, and stay warm during the cold nights.

Hazen learns that the Dayak people use a traditional fire-making method called "fire plow." The fire plow is a primitive tool that consists of a wooden baseboard and a separate wooden stick used for friction. They place a dry inflammable material on the baseboard and use the wooden stick to create friction that ignites a spark in the material to create fire.

After much practice, Hazen finally succeeds in creating fire using the fire plow method. He then takes his newfound knowledge to the next level by building a bamboo fire drill and starting his own fire using just his hands and some natural materials.

Next, Hazen's journey takes him to the remote island of Sumba, where he meets with a small tribe known as the Kodi people. The Kodi people are known for a unique fire-making technique that involves using bamboo tubes filled with gunpowder to create controlled explosions. Hazen witnesses this technique firsthand and is amazed at how fast and efficient it is in creating fire, even in wet environments.

Finally, Hazen concludes his journey by returning to the Dayaks and testing his newfound fire-making skills in a real-world survival situation. Hazen must build a shelter in the jungle and start a fire to cook his food and stay warm during the night. Hazen faces a unique challenge when he encounters a swarm of bees near his shelter, but he uses his fire-making skills to keep the bees away and stay safe.

Overall, Primal Survivor season 5 episode 4 offers a fascinating glimpse into the traditional fire-making methods of indigenous cultures and highlights the importance of fire for human survival in the wilderness. Hazen's journey is both informative and engaging, making this episode a must-see for fans of survivalist and outdoor adventure shows alike.
