Ep 5. The Six

Private Eyes is a Canadian drama television series that premiered on Global on May 26, 2016. The show is about a former professional hockey player, Matt Shade, who begins working with a private investigation firm, Shade and Angie Investigations, headed by PI Angie Everett. Together, they solve cases each episode.

In season 1 episode 5 titled The Six, the plot centers around a professional athlete, Eric Neilson, who is accused of murder. Eric is an Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding and is on the verge of retiring from the sport. He is dating a young woman named Lindsey, who is the daughter of his former coach. Lindsey is also an aspiring athlete who trains with Eric's coach.

Eric is accused of killing his coach, a man named Jackson Monroe, in his office. Monroe had a reputation for being tough on his athletes and was known to be verbally abusive towards them. When Eric is arrested, he claims that he is innocent and that he has been set up. His lawyer hires Shade and Angie Investigations to try and clear Eric's name.

Shade and Angie begin their investigation by speaking to Eric and his girlfriend Lindsey. They quickly realize that Lindsey has been hiding something. Lindsey is struggling with the pressure of being an athlete and is taking performance-enhancing drugs to try and keep up. She was also in the coach's office the day that he was killed, and the police suspect her involvement as well.

As Shade and Angie continue to interview suspects and gather evidence, they find that the coach had many enemies. He had a reputation for being ruthless and had previously blacklisted athletes who spoke out against him. They also discover that Eric's former coach, the person who trained him before Jackson Monroe, had a feud with Monroe after Monroe took over as head coach.

As the investigation progresses, Shade and Angie find themselves in danger. Someone is trying to stop them from investigating the case, and it becomes clear that they are getting too close to the truth. The case takes many twists and turns, and the final reveal is unexpected.

The Six highlights the pressure that athletes are under and the lengths that they will go to in order to succeed. The episode is exciting and fast-paced, with plenty of action and suspense. Shade and Angie's dynamic is entertaining, with the two detectives often coming at problems from different angles. Private Eyes season 1 episode 5 is a thrilling, engaging, and satisfying episode that leaves viewers guessing until the end.
