Property Brothers: Forever Home Season 5 Episode 16 Build the Love Together

In this episode of Property Brothers: Forever Home, the brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott are helping a couple, Emily and Jamie, to transform their current abode into a forever home that works for their growing family. Emily is a nurse, while Jamie is a stay-at-home dad looking after their two children. They love their quiet neighbourhood and friendly neighbours and want to stay in their home for the long haul.

The couple has outgrown their home as their family has grown, and they are fed up with the lack of storage space and outdated finishes. Emily and Jamie have long dreamed of having a functional family home with a connected indoor/outdoor living space where they can entertain and enjoy time as a family. They have their own unique style preferences, and they're excited to see how the Property Brothers can bring their vision for their forever home to life.

To start, Jonathan and Drew begin by surveying the space and identifying ways to make it more functional for a family. They discover the main living space is long with an awkward layout, making it difficult for the family to comfortably entertain or spend quality time together.

The Scott brothers come up with a plan to demolish various walls and open up the space to make it more inviting and airy, allowing for the family to spend quality time with each other. They redo the entire living area, installing new hardwood flooring, and adding a gas fireplace for a cozy feel. They also create a dining area and add cabinetry and storage space around the fireplace.

Next, they move to the kitchen, which is in desperate need of an overhaul. Emily loves to cook, but the small kitchen and lack of storage space make it challenging. The Property Brothers come up with a plan to move the refrigerator and add a spacious island, adding more storage, and giving Emily enough counter space for her to bake and cook.

The Property Brothers then turn their attention to revamping the backyard, creating plenty of seating spaces for hosting family and friends, adding a fire pit, and installing a play area for the kids. The outdoor redesign also includes an entryway right off the kitchen and living space.

To add character to the home, the Property Brothers choose a stunning feature shelf in the living room that the family can and will enjoy. They also add modern light fixtures and redesign the staircase, transforming it into an attractive center point for the home.

Finally, the brothers reveal to the couple the overhaul they’ve done on the home, and the couple is thrilled with the transformation. Emily and Jamie are delighted with the many upgrades, including the cozy fireplace, spacious dining area, and updated kitchen that will make cooking more manageable and enjoyable. The new backyard is a dream come true for the growing family, who are looking forward to entertaining and spending quality time together.
