Psycho-Pass 3 is a Japanese cyberpunk anime television series directed by Naoyoshi Shiotani, produced by Production I.G and written by Tow Ubukata. It is the third season in the Psycho-Pass franchise and primarily revolves around the character of Arata Shindo, voiced by Yuki Kaji. The story takes place in a future world where "psycho-pass" is a term used to measure a person's mental state, personality, and probability of committing crimes.

The season introduces viewers to the two new lead characters, Arata and Kei Mikhail Ignatov, voiced by Yuichi Nakamura. Both characters work in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Public Safety Bureau, which is tasked with preventing crime before it occurs. Arata is a young and idealistic inspector who believes in the justice system and works hard to make the world a better place. Kei, on the other hand, is a veteran detective who has seen too much in the line of duty and has become disillusioned with the system.

The season consists of eight episodes, and each one is a standalone story that contributes to the overarching plot. The first episode introduces us to a new type of criminal, known as "Bifrost," who is using hacked drones to carry out assassinations on public officials. Bifrost is a mysterious organization that seems to have unlimited resources, and it is up to Arata and Kei to find out who they are and stop them.

As the season progresses, we see Arata and Kei working together to solve a variety of crimes, from a murder on a high-speed train to an assassination attempt on a visiting dignitary. The crimes themselves are interesting and well thought out, but what sets the show apart is its exploration of the relationship between Arata and Kei. While they initially clash due to their differing philosophies, they eventually learn to work together and build a strong bond.

The show also touches on a variety of themes, including the role of technology in society, mental health, and the nature of justice. One of the strengths of the show is how it explores these issues without being heavy-handed or didactic.

In terms of production values, Psycho-Pass 3 is excellent. The animation is fluid and detailed, with a cyberpunk aesthetic that is both futuristic and gritty. The soundtrack is also excellent, with a mix of orchestral and electronic music that complements the visuals perfectly.

Overall, Psycho-Pass 3 is a worthy addition to the franchise. While it doesn't quite reach the heights of the first season, it is still an excellent show that is well worth watching for fans of the genre. Its exploration of the relationship between Arata and Kei, as well as its exploration of themes such as the role of technology in society, make it a thought-provoking and engaging series.
