In Queer Eye season 1 episode 2, titled "Saving Sasquatch," the Fab Five heads to the town of Gay, Georgia, to help a shy and introverted man named Cory. Cory is a self-proclaimed "mountain man" who lives in a cabin in the woods, and he's let his appearance fall by the wayside as he focuses on taking care of his two basset hounds, Bruley and Little Richard.
The episode opens with Cory working on his property, dressed in a ragged flannel shirt and jeans, his hair unkempt and his beard overgrown. He tells the camera that he's been feeling lonely and disconnected from the rest of the world, and he's hoping the Fab Five can help him break out of his shell and start living his life to the fullest.
The Fab Five arrives in a pickup truck, excited to take on their latest challenge. The first to meet Cory is Antoni, who surprises him with a homemade breakfast that includes biscuits and gravy – a Southern classic. Antoni tries to encourage Cory to open up about his life, but it quickly becomes clear that Cory is not comfortable with small talk or idle chitchat. Undeterred, Antoni takes Cory under his wing and teaches him how to make a delicious jalapeno guacamole dip, which he hopes will help Cory impress his friends at a party later in the week.
Next up is Karamo, who takes Cory on a hike through the woods to help him confront his fears and insecurities. Along the way, Karamo encourages Cory to tell him more about his past, including his struggles with depression and alcoholism. Karamo helps Cory see that he doesn't have to hide behind his tough exterior and that it's okay to be vulnerable and share his feelings with others.
Meanwhile, Bobby takes on the task of renovating Cory's cabin to make it more comfortable and modern. He helps Cory declutter his space and gives it a fresh coat of paint, adding new furniture and decor that reflect Cory's personality and interests. Cory is amazed by how much more inviting and livable his home feels, and he's grateful to Bobby for helping him turn it into a place he's proud to show off to others.
Tan is in charge of giving Cory a much-needed style upgrade. He helps him pick out some new clothes that are both stylish and functional, including a warm coat for the cold Georgia winters and a suit for special occasions. Tan also gives Cory a new haircut and helps him groom his facial hair, giving him a cleaner and more polished look that suits his personality.
Finally, Jonathan takes on the task of helping Cory improve his hygiene and grooming habits. He shows Cory how to take care of his skin and nails, and even gives him a full body wax so that he can feel more comfortable in his own skin. Cory is amazed by how much better he looks and feels after his makeover, and he credits Jonathan with helping him build up his confidence and self-esteem.
The episode concludes with a party at Cory's cabin, where he invites his friends and neighbors to show off his new look and home. As the night goes on, Cory opens up and shares more of himself with others, and he finds that he's able to connect with them on a deeper level than ever before. He's grateful to the Fab Five for helping him break out of his shell and start living his life to the fullest, and he's excited to see where his newfound confidence and sense of self will take him in the future.
