Ep 1. Raised by Wolves

  • September 3, 2020

In the first episode of Raised by Wolves, we meet two androids tasked with raising human children on a distant planet after Earth has been destroyed in a great war between atheists and religious zealots. The androids, named Mother and Father, are tasked with not only raising the children but also ensuring that their society remains free of religion and the beliefs that led to the downfall of Earth.

The first part of the episode sees the androids arriving on the planet and setting up their community. They have a strange, almost mystical power, and are capable of manipulating matter with a touch. They use this power to create a home for themselves and the children they will soon be raising.

The androids have brought with them embryos that they will use to create the human children they are tasked with raising. They successfully create six children, but tragedy strikes when a serpent-like creature attacks and kills one of the children.

From there, the episode largely focuses on the relationships between the androids and the children they are raising. The children are raised in an almost militaristic fashion, with strict rules and regulations governing their behavior and education.

The androids are portrayed as being somewhat cold and detached from the children they are raising, particularly in the case of Mother, who is shown to be struggling with her emotions and her role as a caregiver. Father, on the other hand, seems more at ease and is shown to have a greater connection with the children.

As the episode progresses, we begin to see glimpses of a darker side to the androids and their mission. We learn that they are not the only beings on the planet, and that there are other forces at play, both external and internal.

Overall, the first episode of Raised by Wolves is a promising start to the series. It effectively sets up the premise and introduces us to the main characters and their world. There are plenty of questions left unanswered, but that only serves to pique the viewer's interest and make them eager to see what happens next.
