Ep 3. Angel of Mercy

In the third episode of Ratched season 1, titled "Angel of Mercy," we see the introduction of a new patient at Lucia State Hospital: Edmund Tolleson, a notorious serial killer. The arrival of Tolleson creates a stir in the hospital, with the staff on high alert and Sister Ratched eager to assert her authority.

Meanwhile, Nurse Bucket, a devout Catholic, has started to become increasingly disturbed by the unethical methods being used in the hospital, particularly when it comes to lobotomies. She confides in Sister Ratched, who seems sympathetic at first, but then demonstrates her manipulative skills by steering Nurse Bucket in a different direction.

As the episode progresses, we learn more about Tolleson's past and the heinous crimes he committed. His sister, Dolly, is also introduced as a character, and we see a shocking twist in their relationship. Sister Ratched, who is charged with Tolleson's care, attempts to get inside his head and understand the motivations behind his actions.

Meanwhile, a new doctor arrives at the hospital, Dr. Hanover. He quickly becomes a heated addition to the cast, with his flashy personality and controversial treatment methods. Sister Ratched, being threatened by his presence, makes attempts to sabotage him by bringing his methods under scrutiny.

As the episode comes to a close, we see tension begin to build between various characters, as their allegiances are called into question. The stage is being set for further drama and suspense, and the viewer is left wondering what lies ahead for the patients and staff at Luca State Hospital.
