In Rehab Addict Rescue season 1 episode 5 titled "Tudor Kitchen Complications," Nicole Curtis teams up with Mike, her longtime co-worker, to rescue a Tudor-style kitchen that has been left to ruin. The Tudor-style kitchen is pretty old and is in terrible shape due to years of water damage and neglect. There are missing tiles, falling cabinets, and broken countertops that make the kitchen almost impossible to use. To add to the challenge, the kitchen's unique vintage character will need to be preserved because it is a rare piece of architecture.

When Nicole and Mike first arrive at the scene, they are shocked by the condition of the kitchen. Mike is a skilled carpenter, and Nicole is a professional house renovator. Together, the dynamic duo devises a plan to salvage as many of the original features as possible while still making the kitchen functional and stylish.

Nicole and Mike start with undoing some of the previous kitchen renovations that went wrong. They remove all the overhead cabinets and unnecessary tiling and are left with a blank canvas to work with. To preserve the original wooden ceiling beams, they sand them down and give them a new coat of stain, revealing the stunning natural wood underneath.

The kitchen is then fleshed out with more storage and table space. Cabinets with custom-built countertops are fitted in place, making the kitchen easy to use while still showcasing its old-world charm. At the same time, Nicole chooses to go with the wood theme to create an eco-friendly kitchen. They invest in a few carpentry tools and also create a beautiful fixture plan that gives the space a rustic old-world feel.

The challenge, however, is to set the kitchen island apart from the surrounding cabinets. Through some creativity and teamwork, Nicole and Mike devise a simple but effective solution, painting the island in a blue tone and giving it a matte finish that complements the plain white cabinets around it to keep the distinctive Tudor vibe exciting.

As the renovation unfolds, unexpected problems arise, adding to the pressure. Because water had infiltrated the kitchen, the floor needed to be repaired. The subfloor is drawn up and replaced with new insulation and wood. Finally, they chose cement tiles for the kitchen floor that were more in keeping with the Tudor theme. The kitchen also needed lighting, and this is where Nicole's Electrian friend stepped in to install a cluster of Edison bulbs, which illuminated the space in a way that created a warm and cozy vibe.

At the finale of the episode, everything comes together, and the kitchen is transformed into a stunning and functional piece of architecture. Nicole and Mike are proud of the kitchen's transformation, how it came to look much better and how they worked skillfully together as a team.

Nicole Curtis is known for her ability to restore and rescue old homes and give them a new life.
