As someone who wears glasses, I was eagerly anticipating the latest episode of RiffTrax Shorts, titled "Glasses for Susan". The episode features a collection of short films from the 1930s and 40s that aim to educate viewers about the importance of eye health and the benefits of wearing eyeglasses.

The first short, "Seeing is Believing", introduces us to Susan, a dimwitted young woman who can't seem to see anything clearly. Her friend suggests she visit an optometrist, who tests her vision and determines that she does indeed need glasses. After receiving her new spectacles, Susan is amazed at how clear the world looks and becomes something of an evangelist for eyeglasses, urging all her friends to get their eyes checked.

The second short, "The Eye and the Ear", is a bit more complex. It starts out as an educational film about the anatomy of the eye and ear, but halfway through it takes a surreal turn as we meet a woman trapped inside her own eyeball. This bizarre segment is pure RiffTrax gold, with the guys making hilarious jokes about the creepy visuals and the nonsensical dialogue.

The third short, "The Care of the Eyes", is a more straightforward educational film that instructs viewers on how to take care of their eyes to prevent disease and injury. While the subject matter isn't quite as ripe for riffing, the guys still manage to find plenty to joke about, particularly when the film advises viewers to use a "sharp knife" to cut their nails.

The final short, "Eyes of Science", is a fascinating glimpse into how modern technology was used to test and improve vision in the mid-20th century. The film follows a group of scientists as they measure eye movements and reactions to light in order to diagnose and treat vision problems. While the subject matter is a bit dry, the guys inject plenty of humor into the proceedings, making fun of the dated equipment and the stilted, robotic nature of the scientists.

Overall, "Glasses for Susan" is a solid episode of RiffTrax Shorts that will appeal to anyone who wears glasses (or knows someone who does). The shorts themselves are entertaining enough on their own, but the riffing takes them to another level. The guys have a great rapport and their jokes are consistently funny, poking fun at everything from the cheesy dialogue to the outdated technology. If you're a fan of classic educational films and enjoy a good riffing, you won't want to miss this episode.
