As the kids try to negotiate with the pirates, they come across some surprising revelations. One of the pirates, a woman named Prisca, seems to recognize Nubia. She reveals that Nubia's mother, who had been presumed dead, was actually alive and had been sold into slavery. Prisca asks Nubia to help her find her mother, and Nubia is torn between helping her friend and staying focused on the mission.

Meanwhile, Flavia and Jonathan discover that the pirates had been hired by a wealthy man to steal the dolphins. They realize that the man was likely the infamous animal collector, Pliny, who had a reputation for stealing exotic animals. They confront Pliny and demand he return the dolphin, but he refuses. In one of the most intense scenes of the episode, the group is forced to flee from Pliny's soldiers to avoid being captured.

Back at the pirate's den, things take a turn for the worse when Prisca betrays the group and takes Lupus hostage. As the kids try to rescue Lupus, they come up with a dangerous plan to free the last dolphin and bring an end to the piracy in Laurentium.
