Ep 9. The Last Man

(Room 104 season 4 episode 9) The Last Man:

In this episode of Room 104, a man wakes up to find that he is the last person left on Earth. The world outside is desolate and empty, and he is completely alone. As he tries to come to terms with his situation, he realizes that he must find a way to survive on his own.

The man, whose name we never learn, begins by scavenging for food and supplies. He learns how to make a fire and finds a source of water. He even starts to grow his own food, using seeds he finds in an abandoned garden. But as time goes on, he realizes that survival is not enough. He needs something to give his life meaning.

He begins to talk to himself, to keep a journal of his thoughts, and to create a routine for himself. He sets up a schedule of tasks to complete each day, like exercising and reading. He starts to create his own entertainment, playing games and singing to himself.

As he settles into his routine, he starts to reflect on his life before the end of the world. He thinks about his family and friends, and wonders if anyone else survived. He starts to wonder why he was spared, and if there is a reason he is still alive.

One day, he discovers a radio, and manages to get it working. He searches for other survivors, but only finds static. He leaves the radio on all night, hoping that someone will respond, but no one does.

Eventually, he starts to have hallucinations. He sees people that aren't there, and hears voices that are not real. He panics, thinking that he is losing his mind, but then realizes that his brain is just creating the company that he craves. He starts to talk to the hallucinations, asking them questions and listening to their responses.

As the days turn into months, and the months turn into years, the man becomes more and more isolated. He starts to feel like he is the only person left in the universe. But then, something happens that changes everything.

The man discovers a hidden door in his room. He opens it, and finds a stairway leading up to an attic. Inside the attic, he finds a message from a previous occupant of the room. The message tells him that he is not alone, and that there are others like him out there.

The man is overjoyed. He starts to climb onto the roof of the building every day, hoping to see a sign of life. And then, one day, he sees it. A plume of smoke in the distance, coming from another building.

The man gathers his things and sets off on a journey to find other survivors. He crosses the empty city, dodging hazards and wild animals, until he finally reaches the other building. There, he finds a group of people who have been surviving in much the same way as he has.

The man starts a new life with the group, grateful to have found others who understand what he has been through. He realizes that he was not meant to be alone, and that there is hope for a future where humanity can survive and thrive once again.

In the end, The Last Man is a story about resilience, hope, and the human need for connection. Even in the darkest of times, we can find a way to keep going, and to find meaning in our lives.
