Ep 1. Limbic Resonance

In the first episode of Sense8, titled "Limbic Resonance," we are introduced to eight individuals from different parts of the world who suddenly become inexplicably connected to one another. These individuals are referred to as "sensates" and possess a unique ability to sense, communicate, and experience each other's thoughts, emotions, and skills despite being physically distant from one another.

We are introduced to each of the sensates in various scenes, depicting their daily lives on different continents. We first meet Will, a crusading Chicago cop who witnesses a woman being shot and killed right in front of him. He is immediately overcome by a deep sense of empathy and confusion as the pain and suffering of this unknown woman seem to seep into his being.

Next, we are introduced to Sun, a skilled Korean businesswoman running her family's corporation. She is encountered in a tense meeting with her father's board members, who are discussing whether or not to label her father incompetent. Sun appears to have a secret life beyond her family's business, one that is physically demanding and violent.

The show then introduces us to Nomi, a transgender hacktivist living in San Francisco with her girlfriend. As she speaks at a Pride rally, she is confronted by a mysterious figure who warns her that "they" are coming for her. Nomi's hacking skills and knowledge of the city become important later on in the episode.

From Amsterdam, we meet the charming, flirtatious Lito, an actor who has just split up with his girlfriend. Despite seeming flippant and carefree, Lito is grappling with something painful and private in his personal life.

Next, we travel to Mumbai to meet Kala, a smart and kindhearted pharmacist who is engaged to marry a man whom she does not love. Kala confides in a colleague about her mixed feelings, and we sense that she is a deeply spiritual person.

We then meet Capheus, a cheerful resident of Nairobi who is struggling to provide for his ailing mother. He spends his days hustling and trying to earn enough money to pay for his mother's medicine.

The show then takes us to Berlin, where we meet the enigmatic and much-feared Wolfgang, a skilled safecracker who is in debt to an organized crime syndicate. Wolfgang has an intricate and mysterious relationship with his best friend, Felix.

Lastly, we meet Riley, an American DJ living in London who is haunted by a traumatic experience from her past. She is dealing with her own personal demons by escaping into music.

Throughout "Limbic Resonance," we witness each of these characters experiencing intense emotional and physical sensations that they cannot explain. They seem to be in a state of emotional chaos, sensing each other's pain, pleasure, and fear as if it is their own.

At the end of the episode, the sensates realize that they are connected to one another in a way that defies explanation, and they are being hunted by an organization that wants to destroy them. As the episode closes, the sensates begin to come together, seemingly bound by their shared experiences and abilities.
