In season 2, episode 5 of Servant, titled "Cake," tensions rise as Leanne's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and Dorothy becomes more obsessed with finding out the truth about her daughter's disappearance. The episode begins with Julian becoming frustrated with Leanne's lack of cooperation in the kitchen, but things really start to unravel when Dorothy's eccentric mother, May, pays a visit to the Turner household.

May's arrival is initially met with excitement by Dorothy, who is desperate for any distraction from the trauma of losing her son. However, tensions quickly arise as May begins to meddle in Dorothy's personal affairs, causing Dorothy to become increasingly frustrated and agitated. Meanwhile, Leanne's strange behavior continues to escalate, leaving Julian and Sean worried about her mental state and the potential danger she poses.

As the episode progresses, the focus shifts to a lavish birthday party that Dorothy has planned for her daughter. Despite the extravagant decorations and impressive spread of desserts, the party quickly devolves into chaos as Leanne's behavior becomes increasingly unpredictable and unsettling. Dorothy, desperate to maintain her image as a perfect hostess, tries to keep a lid on things, but her efforts only seem to make things worse.

Throughout the episode, viewers are left to wonder what is really going on beneath the surface of the Turner household. With Leanne's behavior veering more and more off the rails and Dorothy becoming increasingly obsessed with finding answers about her missing son, it's clear that something is seriously amiss. As tensions bubble to the surface, the stage is set for an explosive confrontation that could have serious consequences for everyone involved.

As usual, the acting in "Cake" is top-notch, with Lauren Ambrose delivering a standout performance as the increasingly unhinged Dorothy. Meanwhile, Toby Kebbell and Rupert Grint are both excellent in their roles as Julian and Sean, respectively, conveying a sense of palpable tension and anxiety as they struggle to make sense of the bizarre events unfolding around them.

Overall, "Cake" is a solid episode of Servant that continues to build on the tension and intrigue of the previous episodes. While it may not provide any definitive answers to the show's many mysteries, it does a great job of keeping viewers on the edge of their seats and setting the stage for further revelations down the line.
