Solar Opposites is an animated television show created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan that premiered on Hulu in May 2020. The show follows a family of aliens who have crashed on Earth and are attempting to plop for their original planet, but their outlandish behavior and complete disregard for human life make them stand out as the oddballs in their suburban neighborhood. With a cast that includes Roiland, Thomas Middleditch, and Mary Mack, the show has garnered critical acclaim for its wit, humor, and sharp commentary on human society.

Episode 5 of Solar Opposites doesn't have an official title as of yet, but it's set to air on Hulu on June 12, 2020. As with previous episodes, this one will likely feature multiple storylines running concurrently, all with their own unique brand of humor and strangeness. The show has tackled topics ranging from body-swapping to time travel, and has even taken inspiration from classic sci-fi movies like Jurassic Park, so it's anyone's guess what Episode 5 will bring.

One strategy that the show has employed successfully thus far has been to use the aliens' unique abilities and perspectives to satirize aspects of human culture that might otherwise go unexamined. For example, in Episode 4, the family becomes embroiled in a conspiracy involving multiple parallel dimensions and the possibility of infinite universes. This provides an opportunity for the show to make fun of the ways in which humans tend to get bogged down in unimportant details and use convoluted language to explain themselves. Expect more of this type of humor in Episode 5.

Another aspect of the show that has drawn praise from critics is the way in which it balances absurdity with emotional depth. Despite their obvious differences from humans, the family of aliens at the heart of the series are surprisingly relatable, with each character having their own quirks and idiosyncrasies. There's the grumpy patriarch Korvo, the spunky and resourceful Terry, the sweet-natured Yumyulack, and the bloodthirsty Jesse, all of whom have their own motivations and concerns. Episode 5 will likely continue to explore these characters and their relationships, while also upping the ante in terms of outlandish situations and sci-fi hijinks.

One possibility for Episode 5 is that it will focus on Yumyulack, the youngest member of the alien family, as he becomes obsessed with a video game that he discovers on Earth. In previous episodes, Yumyulack has shown a fascination with human technology, and has used his shrinking ray to control microscopic people that he captures inside his terrarium. This storyline could provide an opportunity for the show to comment on the addictive nature of video games, as well as the way in which society tends to infantilize young adults.

Another possibility for Episode 5 is that it will involve Jesse, the most violent and unpredictable member of the family, as he tries to find a new outlet for his bloodlust. In previous episodes, Jesse has killed ants, squirrels, and even a fellow alien, all to the dismay of his more pacifistic family members. This storyline could provide an opportunity for the show to comment on the way in which humans have a tendency toward violence and aggression, as well as the way in which cultures can glorify warfare and other forms of brutality.

Regardless of what direction the show takes in Episode 5, it's sure to be filled with laughs, surprises, and the kind of biting satire that fans of Justin Roiland's previous work (such as Rick and Morty) have come to expect. With its blend of surreal humor, sci-fi action, and unexpected heart, Solar Opposites has quickly become one of Hulu's most popular series, and Episode 5 is sure to be another must-watch installment.
