The Matsing tribe includes Angie Layton, a model from Provo, Utah; Denise Stapley, a sex therapist from Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Malcolm Freberg, a bartender from Hermosa Beach, California; Roxy Morris, a seminary student from Brooklyn, New York; Russell Swan, a environmental attorney from Glenside, Pennsylvania, who was evacuated from Survivor: Samoa due to dehydration and exhaustion; and returning player Zane Knight, a tire repairman from Danville, Virginia.

The Kalabaw tribe includes Carter Williams, a track coach from Shawnee, Kansas; Dana Lambert, a cosmetologist from Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Dawson Brown, a saleswoman from Austin, Texas; Jeff Kent, a former Major League Baseball player from Austin, Texas; Katie Hanson, a former Miss Delaware from Newark, Delaware; and returning player Jonathan Penner, a screenwriter and producer from Los Angeles, California, who previously competed in Survivor: Cook Islands and Survivor: Micronesia.
