In the crime thriller series Criminal Minds, a team of FBI profilers tries to get inside the psychology of criminals in order to track them down. The team works for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. Their goal is to analyze the behavioral patterns of crime perpetrators. From these patterns, they will extract profiles that will lead them to the identity of the criminals. Each member of the team has a special skill. They are drawn from a familiar set of character types. The gruff older veteran is an especially skilled profiler. The former lawyer is a keen student of manipulation. A female agent is a specialist in sexually motivated crimes. A black agent is a former athlete and resident of Chicago housing projects. He also has a hot temper. An eccentric genius is socially awkward. But he's also unmatched in his comprehensive knowledge of all science and technology. The members of the team solve crimes. But at the same time, they juggle off-the-job relationships. These relationships happen between team members and with other characters, too. The series debuted on CBS in 2005. The final episode of its 15th and final season aired in February 2020. The series and its cast won multiple People's Choice Awards. Its three Emmy Awards nominations were for Outstanding Stunt Coordination. The original Criminal Minds series spawned two spin off series on CBS. Both of these spin offs ended before the end of the parent series in 2020. The franchise is also the basis of a Korean adaptation and a video game.
