The Adventures of Flash Gordon is an American animated television series produced by Content Family and aired on NBC from 1979 to 1982. Based on the comic strip of the same name by Alex Raymond, the show follows the intergalactic adventures of the titular hero, Flash Gordon, as he battles evil space villains and saves entire planets from destruction.

The show is set in the distant future when Earth and its surrounding planets are united in peace under the rule of Ming the Merciless, an evil emperor who seeks to dominate the entire universe. Flash, a young athlete and adventurer, along with his companions Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov, are suddenly hurled into space when Ming launches a devastating attack on Earth. The trio finds themselves on the planet Mongo, where they meet a variety of strange and fascinating creatures, including the lion-like Prince Thun of the Lion Men, the hawk-like Prince Vultan of the Hawkmen, and the underwater race of Shark Men.

Throughout the series, Flash, Dale, and Zarkov travel across Mongo, encountering thrilling adventures and epic battles along the way. As they explore the various planets and regions of the universe, they encounter a host of menacing villains, including the lizard-like Ming the Merciless, the seductive Queen Azura, and the evil witch, Morgana. In each episode, the heroes must use their wits and skills to outsmart their foes and save the day, whether it is preventing the destruction of an entire planet or rescuing a captive queen from a diabolical dungeon.

The show's animation is vibrant and colorful, featuring detailed landscapes and imaginative creatures that bring the world of Flash Gordon to life. The characters are also well-developed, with each member of the trio contributing unique skills and personalities to the group dynamic. Flash is brave and resourceful, constantly putting himself in danger to save others; Dale is intelligent and level-headed, using her quick thinking to help the group out of tight situations; and Zarkov is highly intelligent and resourceful, using his scientific knowledge to often get the trio out of tight spots.

The voice acting in the show is also impressive, with a talented cast lending their talents to bring the characters to life. Robert Ridgely voices Flash with a combination of bravado and earnestness, making him a likable and heroic protagonist. Vic Perrin is menacing and calculating as Ming, the show's primary antagonist, while Bob Holt provides a steady presence as Zarkov. Alan Oppenheimer lends his distinctive voice to a variety of supporting characters, including Prince Vultan and the Shark Men, and Diane Pershing brings a sultry and seductive tone to Queen Azura.

Overall, The Adventures of Flash Gordon is a thrilling and adventurous animated series that takes viewers on a journey across the universe. With its engaging characters, imaginative creatures, and exciting action scenes, the show is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
