Ep 3. The Midges

Elizabeth and Philip continue their espionage work as they try to gather intelligence on potential American targets and prevent any threat to the Soviet Union. In this episode, they are tasked with finding a sample of a new biological weapon being developed by the United States. To do this, they team up with Soviet scientist, Amaryllis, who has connections to American counterparts, including a married couple named the Morozovs.

As they plot to infiltrate the Morozovs' home, Elizabeth and Philip also deal with personal issues. Elizabeth struggles with her daughter, Paige's desire to learn more about their family history, including their involvement in the KGB. Philip continues to grapple with the psychological effects of his espionage work, including nightmares and paranoia.

Meanwhile, Stan Beeman, an FBI agent and neighbor to the Jennings, is tasked with investigating a series of mysterious deaths involving government officials. He starts to uncover a connection between the deaths and a scientist named William, who has been working on the same biological weapon that Elizabeth and Philip are trying to find.

As tensions rise and loyalties are tested, it becomes clear that the stakes are higher than ever for both the KGB agents and the FBI agents. Will Elizabeth and Philip be able to successfully complete their mission, or will they be foiled by their own personal demons and the dangers of their work? Will Stan Beeman uncover the truth about the mysterious deaths and the Soviet spy network operating in their midst?
