In season 1 episode 3 of The Case Study of Vanitas, titled Fangs That Lay Bare Blood, we continue to follow the adventures of Noé and Vanitas. The episode opens with Noé explaining the legend of the Blue Moon to Vanitas. According to legend, the Blue Moon only appears once every 100 years and is said to cause vampires to go berserk. The two of them discuss how the Blue Moon could be affecting the vampires they've been encountering, as they seem to be acting more aggressive lately.
Their conversation is interrupted when they come across a group of vampires who are fighting over a bottle of blue liquid. Vanitas recognizes the liquid as "Blue Moon," a rare type of vampire blood that is said to be incredibly powerful. The bottle is eventually broken during the fight, and the Blue Moon spills out onto the ground. Noé and Vanitas quickly realize that the vampires who come into contact with the Blue Moon are now completely out of control, attacking anything in their path.
As Noé and Vanitas attempt to escape, they come across a mysterious vampire who seems to have some type of control over the berserk vampires. He introduces himself as Luca, a doctor who specializes in curing vampires. Luca explains that he's been studying the effects of the Blue Moon and has created a vaccine that can cure the vampires who have been affected. However, he needs a sample of the Blue Moon in order to create the vaccine, which he asks Noé and Vanitas to retrieve for him.
Noé and Vanitas agree to help Luca, and they set out to find another bottle of Blue Moon. Along the way, they encounter another group of berserk vampires, and Noé is forced to use his powers to stop them. This attracts the attention of Murr, a member of the Chasseurs, a group of vampire hunters. Murr explains that the Chasseurs have been tasked with eliminating all the vampires who have been affected by the Blue Moon, as they are too dangerous to be left alive.
Noé and Vanitas manage to find another bottle of Blue Moon, but before they can return it to Luca, they are attacked by a group of Chasseurs. Noé and Vanitas manage to fight off the Chasseurs, but they are forced to flee with the Blue Moon. They make their way back to Luca, who quickly begins working on the vaccine. Luca explains that the vaccine will only work if the Blue Moon isn't too concentrated, which is why he needs Noé and Vanitas' help in retrieving it.
The episode ends with Luca successfully creating the vaccine, but there's still the issue of how to distribute it to all the vampires who have been affected. Noé and Vanitas agree to help Luca distribute the vaccine, but it's clear that they will face many more challenges along the way.
Overall, Fangs That Lay Bare Blood is an action-packed episode that introduces new characters and explores the mysterious Blue Moon. It sets up some interesting plot threads for future episodes, and fans of the series will be left eager to see where the story goes next.
