Ep 3. I Heard You're a GOAT

The Chase season 1 episode 3, titled "I Heard You're a GOAT," features four new contestants eager to take on the cunning mind of the Chaser. The episode opens with Bradley Walsh introducing the players: James, a teacher from Manchester; Sue, a retiree from Sussex; Isaac, a graphic designer from Guildford; and Maria, a civil servant from London.

As always, the contestants must first face the cash builder round, where they answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds to earn money for the final round. James gets off to a strong start, answering five questions correctly and earning £5,000. Sue and Isaac each earn £2,000, while Maria struggles with only one correct answer and £1,000 in her bank.

Next, it's time for each contestant to face off against the Chaser in a head-to-head round. James faces newcomer Chaser Anne Hegerty, aka "The Governess," and manages to win £5,000 by answering five questions correctly before Anne can catch up. Sue faces off against Mark "The Beast" Labbett and also earns £5,000 by answering four questions correctly. Isaac is matched up against Shaun "The Dark Destroyer" Wallace - a formidable opponent who manages to catch him out early on. Maria is then up against Anne and manages to scrape through with £2,000 - just enough to make it to the final round.

In the final round, the contestants must collectively answer as many questions as possible to outrun the Chaser and take home their cash prize. James, Sue, Isaac, and Maria must work together to answer a total of 20 multiple-choice questions correctly to win their combined pot of £18,000. However, they face a tough opponent in the form of The Governess, who has proven herself to be a worthy adversary in previous episodes.

The final round proves to be a nail-biter as both teams go back and forth, with the contestants managing to increase their score to 15 correct answers - just five away from victory. However, with only a few questions left to answer, The Governess manages to catch up and match their score of 15, leaving the game in a tiebreaker.

In the tiebreaker, the teams must answer the same question, and whoever answers correctly first wins the game. The contestants are given the question, "What social media platform was originally launched under the name 'The Facebook?'" While the contestants hesitate, The Governess buzzes in confidently and answers correctly, securing her victory over the contestants.

Although the contestants don't win the prize money in this episode, the game proves to be an exciting battle of wits between them and the Chaser. With their collective knowledge and strategic gameplay, the contestants put up a strong fight against The Governess, making for an entertaining and engaging episode of The Chase.
