Ep 1. Episode 1

On the first episode of The Healing Powers of Dude, we are introduced to Noah Ferris (played by Jace Chapman), an 11-year-old boy who suffers from social anxiety disorder. Noah is about to attend middle school, but the thought of interacting with his classmates and teachers makes him incredibly anxious. His parents, Karen (played by Laverne Cox) and Paul (played by Tom Everett Scott), are supportive of him and try to find ways to help him cope with his anxiety.

As Noah starts his first day of middle school, he meets a new friend named Simon (played by Mauricio Lara), who immediately puts him at ease. Simon is outgoing and friendly, and he doesn't seem to mind that Noah is quiet and reserved. The two quickly bond over their love of animals, especially dogs.

Noah's parents also surprise him with a special gift to help him cope with his anxiety: a support dog named Dude (voiced by Steve Zahn). Dude is a yellow Labrador retriever who has been specially trained to be a therapy dog. He is calm, gentle, and loving, and he helps Noah feel more comfortable in social situations.

Noah's first day of school is not without its challenges, however. He has a run-in with a bully named TJ (played by Sophie Kim), who makes fun of him for being afraid of dogs. But with the help of Simon and Dude, Noah is able to stand up to TJ and overcome his fear.

Throughout the episode, we see how Dude's presence helps Noah navigate his anxiety. When he starts to feel overwhelmed, Dude is there to comfort him and provide emotional support. Together, they learn to face their fears and take on new challenges.
