Conrad Hawkins is a senior resident in the surgical department at "Chastain Park Memorial Hospital" in Atlanta, Georgia. Along with his fellow residents, they try to maintain a balance between their personal and professional lives, all while dealing with the various problems that arise in a hospital environment. In the third episode of Season 1, titled "Comrades in Arms," we follow the usual cast as they navigate a difficult case.

The episode opens with the arrival of a new patient - a veteran who is suffering from a severe case of PTSD. He is admitted to the hospital after being found wandering on the streets and causing a scene. As they begin to treat him, the team of doctors soon realizes that his condition is much more complex than they initially thought.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bell, the Chief of Surgery, is dealing with a situation of his own. The hospital's CEO and board members have come in for an inspection, and he is desperate to impress them. He sees an opportunity to do so when he learns that a wealthy patient is in need of a heart transplant.

Devon Pravesh, a first-year resident, is faced with a difficult decision. He has to choose between helping Dr. Bell with the transplant surgery, which would mean he'll have to miss a crucial exam, or prioritizing his career over the surgery.

As the team works to treat the veteran, they learn that he was discharged from the army due to a traumatic brain injury that caused his PTSD. They try various treatments, but nothing seems to work. In the end, the team realizes that the only way to help the patient is by getting him to confront his fear directly. They arrange for him to meet with his former commanding officer, who he blames for his condition. After the meeting, the patient is able to start working through his issues, and his mental health gradually improves.

However, during the surgery, things go wrong. Dr. Bell makes a mistake that puts the patient's life in danger. His decision to go ahead with the transplant even though the donor's heart was not a perfect match is called into question. Devon saves the day by recognizing the error and coming up with a solution, but Dr. Bell takes credit for it at the board meeting with the CEO.

Overall, "Comrades in Arms" is an emotionally powerful episode that deals with important themes like PTSD and the struggles of veterans. It also highlights the ethical dilemmas that doctors face in a hospital setting. The acting is solid, and the episode is well-paced and engaging. It's definitely a must-watch for fans of medical dramas.
