Ep 5. The Germ

Conrad is at a dilemma as to whether he should continue with Nic's father's treatment or whether he should stop it. Although he is not sure how this decision is going to play out, he knows that he has to make it soon as Nic is putting pressure on him to have a verdict on the matter. Meanwhile, the hospital is facing a crisis with the sudden outbreak of an unknown illness which is sending patients downhill fast. Devon, Irving, and Mina are all trying to investigate what is causing the disease and whether it is contagious. They are working round the clock to find a cure and to stop the spread of the disease. As they work tirelessly, Mina stumbles upon a clue that eventually leads to the identification of the primary source of the epidemic. However, not everyone is pleased with her findings, and they will do anything in their power to stop her.

Elsewhere, Bell is wrestling with his conscience over his involvement in the hospital's financial arrangements. He is painfully aware that he made a mistake and that his actions have caused a lot of harm to many people. Despite his best efforts to fix things, he is still harboring guilt and is unsure if he is doing enough. Things take a surprising turn when he meets with a former patient who is now confined to a wheelchair because of his actions. The meeting is an emotional one, and as Bell confronts the devastation he has caused, he realizes that there is still something he can do to make things better.

Back to Conrad and Nic, their relationship is still going strong, but they are facing yet another hurdle. Nic's sister is diagnosed with cancer, and she wants to make sure her sister gets the best treatment possible. This puts Conrad in a challenging position as he is torn between his obligation to Nic and his desire to put the patient's needs first. He knows that he has to find a way to make everyone happy, but as the situation becomes more complicated, he wonders if there is a way out.

The episode is intense, and the pace is fast and non-stop. The cast is excellent, and they deliver powerful performances that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It is a medical drama, but it is also so much more than that. It is a show about human emotions, ethical dilemmas, and the struggle to do what is right even when it is not the easy thing to do. The Resident season 2 episode 5 is a must-watch for anyone who loves drama, romance, and a little bit of mystery thrown in.
