Ep 1. Episode 1

In the first episode of The Umbrella Academy, we are introduced to the seven Hargreeves siblings, each born under unusual circumstances and adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves. The episode begins with the unexplained disappearance of 43 infants born on the same day across the world, and Sir Reginald's adoption of seven of them.

We first meet Luther, also known as Number One, who has been sent to the Moon by Sir Reginald to carry out a mission. He is the strongest of the siblings and has spent four years alone on the lunar surface. Next, we see Diego, known as Number Two, who works as a vigilante, saving a woman from being mugged. He is skilled with knives and has a strong sense of justice. Allison, or Number Three, is a famous actress and has the power to make anyone do as she wants by saying "I heard a rumor." Klaus, or Number Four, is a drug-addicted medium who can communicate with the dead. Number Five, who has the ability to time travel, has disappeared and has not been seen in 16 years. Ben, who has already died and is known as Number Six, can summon tentacle-like monsters from other dimensions. Lastly, we see Vanya, or Number Seven, who is the only sibling without any powers and has become estranged from the family.

The siblings are reunited when they receive the news of Sir Reginald's death and attend his funeral. During the funeral, Klaus communicates with the ghost of Sir Reginald and admits that he didn't have a good relationship with him. Allison tries to mend fences with Luther but is met with resistance. Diego is determined to find out who killed Sir Reginald and investigates the murder with Luther. Meanwhile, Number Five returns from the future as a teenager and is shocked to find that his siblings are still alive.

As the episode progresses, we see the siblings dealing with their personal demons and secrets. Klaus struggles with addiction and reconnects with his deceased brother Ben. Allison deals with the consequences of using her power on her daughter and divorcing her husband. Vanya tries to reconnect with her family and is rejected by them once again. As Number Five works to prevent the apocalypse, he discovers that there is more to his power than he had previously thought.

The episode ends with a cliffhanger as Number Five tells his siblings that the world will end in eight days and they must work together to stop it. The first episode of The Umbrella Academy sets up the premise of the show and introduces the complex relationships between the siblings. With a mix of action, drama, and humor, it leaves the audience eagerly anticipating the rest of the season.
