Ep 1. Tiger and Dragon

Ryuji Takasu is an earnest high school student who is often misunderstood because of his sharp gaze inherited from his gangster genes. He harbors a secret crush on his classmate Minori Kushieda and hopes to confess to her one day. But his chances seem slim when he accidentally bumps into his new classmate, Taiga Aisaka, a tiny but ferocious girl known for her temper and violent outbursts.

The episode starts with Ryuji waking up early, excited about the start of a new school year. However, his hopes of a smooth year are shattered when he stumbles into Taiga Aisaka while getting ready for school. She immediately threatens him with violence, and he is forced to apologize.

Later in the day, Ryuji and Taiga are surprised to find out that they are not only in the same class but also live next door to each other. Ryuji tries to be friendly with Taiga, but she continues to treat him coldly and with disdain.

During class, Ryuji's hopes of confessing to Minori are ruined when he overhears Taiga talking to her about him and Minori, and how he is a stalker. Ryuji's confidence takes a hit, and he starts to avoid Minori.

Later that day, Taiga catches Ryuji cleaning up his house and offers to help. Ryuji is surprised by her offer but accepts it. As they clean, Ryuji starts to understand why Taiga is always angry and why she has a reputation for being violent. He realizes that she actually cares about her friends and gets fiercely defensive when they are in trouble.

As the day comes to a close, Ryuji decides to confront Taiga about the rumors spreading around school. He asks her why she told Minori that he's a stalker, and she reveals that she only said it to scare him off so that Minori wouldn't be distracted from her studies. Ryuji is surprised and pleased to find that Taiga cares about Minori's future and his feelings for her.

The episode ends with Ryuji realizing that Taiga isn't so bad after all and that he may have misjudged her. He resolves to be kind to her, and Taiga, in turn, starts to see Ryuji in a new light. The unlikely pair may have just formed an unexpected alliance.
