Three teenage girls - Elodie, Moe, and Tabitha - who come from different backgrounds and don't know each other yet, find themselves in a routine detention class at their high school. Elodie is a new student who moved to Portland with her dad after her mother's death, Tabitha is an overachiever and has perfectionist tendencies, while Moe is somewhat of a rebel, dealing with her mother's alcoholism and a troubled past.

During detention, Elodie makes an unlikely friend in Sabine, a mysterious and charming girl who shares her passion for vintage jewelry. Sabine suggests they go to a thrift store nearby, and while browsing through the items, Elodie spots a bracelet that takes her breath away.

After they leave the store, Sabine invites Elodie to her house, where she reveals a secret room full of stolen trinkets. Elodie is hesitant at first but eventually gets caught up in the thrill of the moment and steals a necklace.

Meanwhile, Moe goes to her new job at a convenience store, where she meets a guy named Noah who has a reputation for being a troublemaker. They bond over their mutual love for Nirvana and eventually cut work to hang out in a park, where Noah teaches Moe how to skateboard.

Tabitha, on the other hand, is dealing with her own set of issues - her boyfriend is pressuring her to have sex, and her mom is constantly micromanaging her life. She tries to confide in a girl from her dance class, but the conversation doesn't go as she planned.

As the day goes on, Elodie runs into Tabitha and Moe separately and realizes that they both go to the same high school as her. She's surprised to discover that Tabitha is the same girl from her dance class, and after a brief conversation with Moe, she convinces them both to come with her to a party.

At the party, the girls bond over their shared experiences while trying out different outfits in a makeshift dressing room. Elodie catches the eye of a guy named Brady, who she shares a brief moment with before Sabine interrupts and drags her away.

Eventually, the night takes a surreal turn when Elodie sees a reflection of herself in a store window that she doesn't recognize. The girls all end up at a diner, where they make a pact to never let boys or anyone else come between their friendship.

The episode ends with Elodie realizing that the necklace she stole from Sabine's secret room has sentimental value, as it belonged to Sabine's deceased mother. She debates whether to return it or not, ultimately deciding to keep it and deal with the consequences.
