Ep 1. Pilot

A young man named Bassam "Barry" Al-Fayeed has been living in California with his wife and two children for the last twenty years. He is a successful pediatrician and seems to have left behind his troubled past in his homeland of Abbudin where his father is the dictator ruling over the country. But when his nephew's wedding brings him back to Abbudin, he is confronted with his family's legacy of violence, power, and the harsh realities of living under a dictatorship.

The episode opens with Barry and his family preparing for their trip to Abbudin, where his father has invited them for his nephew's wedding. He is anxious about the trip and seems to have mixed feelings about seeing his family again, especially his father. As they arrive in Abbudin, they are greeted by an armed convoy and taken to the grand palace, where Barry's father, Khaled Al-Fayeed, is waiting to greet them.

The tension is high as Barry meets his family after so many years. His brother, Jamal, is now the heir to the throne and seems to be a bit of a loose cannon, while his mother, Amira, is a shrewd political operator who will do anything to protect her family. The wedding is a grand affair, but it is marred by the presence of a rebel leader who is trying to overthrow the government. As the night wears on, the rebels launch an attack on the palace, and chaos ensues.

Barry finds himself caught up in the middle of the violence, and he makes a decision that will change his life forever. As the rebels close in, he decides to help his nephew, who is injured, escape the palace and get medical attention. He is forced to leave his family behind and go into hiding with his nephew, and he soon realizes that he may be the only one who can help his country find a way out of the violence and chaos that has engulfed it.

As the episode ends, Barry is faced with a difficult decision. Will he stay hidden and keep his family safe, or will he risk it all and try to bring peace to his homeland?
