Unit One is a Danish television crime drama from DR1 that aired from 2000 to 2004. The show revolves around a specialized unit of the Danish police force, referred to as the Mobile Task Force, or Unit One. Their mandate is to handle complex and high-pressure criminal investigations that require a special investigative touch.

Led by the enigmatic and determined Ingrid Dahl (played by Charlotte Fich), Unit One is an elite group of officers comprised of a diverse and talented team of investigators. Each member of the team brings unique skills and expertise to the table, from the forensic scientist to the streetwise veteran cop. The dynamic between the team members is one of the show's most significant strengths, with each character given ample opportunity to shine in their own right.

One of the standout members of the team is Allan Fischer, played by Mads Mikkelsen, who would go on to become an international star. Fischer is the primary interrogator of the team, with a talent for getting suspects to confess. He is incredibly charismatic and often uses unconventional tactics to get the information he needs.

Lars Brygmann plays Jens Peter Raben, the team's computer expert. Raben is a bit of an oddball, with a quirky sense of humor and a fondness for Hawaiian shirts. He is instrumental in the team's investigations, using his technology skills to hack into databases and uncover vital clues.

The investigations themselves are complex, engaging, and often emotionally charged. The show does an excellent job of balancing the procedural elements of crime drama with the human interest stories that fuel the characters' personal and professional lives. While the crimes themselves are often gruesome and gritty, the show never feels exploitative or gratuitous in its depiction of violence.

One of the unique aspects of Unit One is its focus on the complex interplay between the police force and the media. As each investigation unfolds, the team is under constant scrutiny from the press, who are quick to seize on any perceived misstep or failure. The tense relationship between the police and the media adds another layer of tension to an already high-pressure environment.

Another aspect of the show that makes it stand out is its focus on the personal lives of the characters. While the investigations take center stage, there is a strong emphasis on the relationships between the team members, as well as their families and loved ones. The show does an excellent job of humanizing the characters, making it easy for the audience to empathize with their struggles both on and off the job.

Overall, Unit One is a compelling and engaging crime drama that balances procedural elements with strong character development. The show's focus on the complex interplay between the police force and the media, as well as its emphasis on the personal lives of the characters, sets it apart from other crime dramas. With a talented cast, complex investigations, and high-stakes drama, it's easy to see why Unit One was such a hit with audiences during its run on DR1.

Unit One is a series that is currently running and has 3 seasons (32 episodes). The series first aired on October 1, 2000.
