Selina Meyer has always been at the center of the political drama, and season 4 episode 8 of Veep, titled "B/ill," is no different. The episode opens with Selina still reeling from the news that her mother has died, and she's just endured a painfully awkward trip to the funeral home. Now, she has to navigate the choppy political waters of Bill Ericsson's congressional campaign.

Selina is eager to secure a win for Bill, one of her longtime allies, but things quickly go off the rails when she realizes just how much of an uphill battle they're facing. Making matters worse, Dan Egan is now working for Bill's opponent, Teddy Sykes, and he's not afraid to pull out all the stops to win.

As Selina and her team try to figure out how to salvage the campaign, they're hit with another setback: a minor scandal involving Bill's son, who has been caught smoking marijuana. Selina is quick to deflect, but she knows it's only a matter of time before the news breaks and the public turns against them.

Meanwhile, Gary is grappling with his own health issues, which are becoming increasingly difficult to hide from Selina. He's desperate for some time off to deal with his health problems, but Selina is so wrapped up in the campaign that she doesn't have time to pay attention to his needs.

As the episode continues, Selina becomes more and more consumed by the campaign, even as it becomes increasingly clear that they're not going to win. She's desperate to save face and avoid being seen as a loser, but she can't seem to get it together.

Throughout it all, the show manages to strike a balance between humor and drama, thanks to Julia Louis-Dreyfus' incredible performance and the sharp writing of the Veep team. Even in the face of losing, Selina is still the same snarky and self-absorbed character we've come to love over the past four seasons.

At its core, season 4 episode 8 of Veep is about the lengths that people will go to in order to win. Selina is willing to sacrifice anything, and anyone, to come out on top, even if it means ruining her relationship with Bill or throwing her own health aide under the bus. It's a sharp commentary on the cut-throat world of politics, and a reminder that there are no winners in this game.

Overall, "B/ill" is a standout episode of Veep, showcasing the series' signature blend of sharp writing, biting humor, and poignant character development. It's a must-watch for fans of the show, and a great entry point for those who are new to the world of Selina Meyer and her motley crew of political operatives.
