Following a criminal history involving thirty robberies and assault, John Cooper was arrested twice: in 1998 and, finally, in 2009. Previously, he had killed the siblings Richard and Helen Thomas in Scoveston Park before burning down their house in 1985. Later, in 1989, he shot and murdered couple Peter and Gwenda Dixon in Pembroksehire after tying them up and robbing them.
