  • August 17, 2014

The 2014 SummerSlam event took place in Los Angeles, California, and was broadcast live on WWE Network for fans around the world to enjoy. This annual pay-per-view event is one of the biggest of the year, featuring some of the most exciting matches and rivalries in professional wrestling.

The event kicked off with a pre-show match between Rob Van Dam and Cesaro. The two superstars put on a thrilling match, with Cesaro ultimately coming out on top thanks to his impressive strength and technical skill.

The main show opened with a match between Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. This match had been building for weeks leading up to SummerSlam, as both men had been vying for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Orton controlled much of the match early on, but Reigns rallied and was able to secure the victory with his signature Superman Punch and Spear finishing maneuvers.

Next up was a tag team match between The Miz & Dolph Ziggler and Damien Sandow & R-Truth. The two teams had been embroiled in a feud over the Intercontinental Championship, with both The Miz and Ziggler vying for the belt. In the end, it was Ziggler who scored the pinfall victory for his team, setting him up as a top contender for the title.

In one of the most highly anticipated matches of the night, Brie Bella took on Stephanie McMahon. The lead-up to this match had seen a brutal physical and emotional battle between the two women, with Stephanie taunting Brie about her husband Daniel Bryan's injury and absence from WWE. Despite Stephanie's mind games and her husband Triple H's interference, Brie was able to come out on top with a hard-fought victory.

The next match was a no-disqualification contest between Bray Wyatt and Chris Jericho. Wyatt had been targeting Jericho for weeks leading up to SummerSlam, using his trademark mind games and psychological manipulation to get inside Jericho's head. The two men traded blows and brutal chair shots, but it was Wyatt who ultimately emerged victorious, cementing his status as one of the most fearsome and dangerous competitors in WWE.

In perhaps the most surprising match of the night, Brock Lesnar went up against John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar had been absent from WWE for several years, but made a huge statement upon his return by defeating the legendary Undertaker at WrestleMania. Cena, meanwhile, had been a dominant champion for several months leading up to this match. However, Lesnar proved to be too much for Cena to handle, dominating him with a relentless assault of German suplexes and finishing him off with his trademark F-5 maneuver to capture the title.

The final match of the night was a title bout between AJ Lee and Paige for the Divas Championship. These two women had been putting on some of the best matches in WWE's women's division, and this contest was no exception. In the end, AJ Lee emerged victorious, retaining her title in a hard-fought battle.

Overall, the 2014 SummerSlam event was a huge success, with a number of thrilling matches and surprising outcomes. Fans around the world were once again reminded why WWE remains one of the most exciting and entertaining forms of entertainment around.
