- April 3, 2016
On March 3, 2016, the WWE Network presented WrestleMania 32, live from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. With over 100,000 fans in attendance and millions watching at home, this was set to be one of the biggest events in WWE history.
The show started with a pre-show featuring a match between The Usos and The Dudleys. This match set the tone for the night, as both teams went back and forth in an intense battle that ultimately saw The Usos emerge victorious.
Next up was the main show, which kicked off with a performance of "America The Beautiful" by Fifth Harmony. The crowd was pumped and ready for the action, and they got it right away with the opening match featuring the Intercontinental Championship. Seven superstars, including Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and The Miz, competed in a ladder match for the title. The match was chaotic and full of amazing spots, but in the end, Zack Ryder was able to defy the odds and climb the ladder to become the new Intercontinental Champion.
The women's division got their time to shine next, as Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch competed for the newly-created WWE Women's Championship. This match was a long time coming for women's wrestling fans, as it was the first time a women's match was given a prominent spot on the WrestleMania card. The three women put on an incredible match that showcased their athleticism and ring skills. In the end, Charlotte was able to retain her undefeated streak on pay-per-view and become the first WWE Women's Champion.
The New Day came out next to deliver a fun promo and introduce their new friend, a giant box of Booty-Os cereal. This led to a surprise appearance by Shawn Michaels, Mick Foley, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. The three legends came out to encourage The New Day to be more serious about their careers and not just focus on being entertaining. This led to a hilarious confrontation between the three legends and The New Day, which ended with The New Day being on the receiving end of Stone Cold Stunners.
The next match was a street fight between Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar. This was a brutal and intense match that saw both men use everything from kendo sticks to chainsaws to inflict punishment on each other. In the end, it was Brock Lesnar who emerged victorious after hitting Ambrose with an F5 onto a pile of steel chairs.
The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal was next, featuring 20 superstars battling it out for the trophy. The highlight of the match was when Shaquille O'Neal, who had been teasing a potential appearance on social media, entered the ring and faced off with The Big Show. The two giants went at it for a few moments before ultimately being eliminated by the other competitors. In the end, it was Baron Corbin who emerged victorious, using the opportunity to make his main roster debut.
The next match was a highly-anticipated Hell in a Cell match between Shane McMahon and The Undertaker. If Shane won, he would take control of Raw and The Undertaker would be forced to retire. This match did not disappoint, as both men put their bodies on the line in a brutal and unforgettable encounter. Shane even attempted to jump off the top of the cell onto The Undertaker, only to miss and crash through the announce table. In the end, The Undertaker was able to pick up the victory and extend his WrestleMania streak to 23-0.
The penultimate match of the night saw Triple H defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. This match had been building for months, with Reigns being positioned as the top babyface in the company while fans continued to reject him. The match itself was solid, with both men putting on a good showing. However, the crowd was firmly behind Triple H, and Reigns emerged victorious to a chorus of boos.
The final match of the night was the highly-anticipated WWE Championship match between The Rock and John Cena. This match had been building for over a year, with Cena seeking revenge for his loss to The Rock at WrestleMania 28. The two men put on a great match that saw them both hit their signature moves and finishers. In the end, it was Cena who emerged victorious, getting the better of The Rock in a hard-fought battle.
Overall, WrestleMania 32 was a solid show that delivered on all fronts. From the amazing ladder match to the historic women's match to the unforgettable Hell in a Cell encounter, this was a WrestleMania for the ages.
