WWE PPV on WWE Network Season 2018 Episode 7 Extreme Rules 2018
- July 15, 2018
Extreme Rules is one of the most hardcore, unpredictable events on the WWE calendar, and the 2018 edition promised to be no different. Spectators could expect to see a variety of insane stunts, chaotic matches, and some of the most bloodthirsty rivalries on the pro wrestling scene.
As with all WWE Network PPVs, the show kicked off with a pre-show, which offered predictions, analysis, and interviews with some of the biggest stars of the WWE Universe. This was the perfect way to get fans primed for the mayhem to come, and to provide some context and background for those who were new to the world of professional wrestling.
The main card began with a match between The New Day and Sanity, two of the most unpredictable and irreverent foes in the WWE. For this match, WWE officials had chosen a Tables Match, which meant that the only way to win was to put all members of the opposing team through a table. The match was a frenetic back-and-forth, with both teams taking turns destroying tables and attempting to put each other out of commission. In the end, New Day emerged victorious, putting Eric Young through a table and sending a message to the rest of the WWE tag team roster.
Next up was a Raw Women's Championship match between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax. This match was particularly heated, as Bliss had been using underhanded tactics and insults to belittle Jax for weeks leading up to the event. Jax proved she was more than up to the challenge, however, dominating Bliss from the get-go and forcing her to tap out to a brutal submission hold. The crowd erupted as Jax held the championship aloft, cementing her status as one of the most dominant female wrestlers on the planet.
Things only got crazier from there, with a match between Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley that was equal parts athletic competition and street fight. Both men unleashed a barrage of punches, kicks, and power moves on each other, with neither willing to give an inch. The referee had to essentially let them go at it, and fans were treated to some of the most awe-inspiring displays of athleticism and power that the WWE has ever seen. In the end, it was Lashley who emerged victorious, but Reigns proved that he was a worthy opponent and received a standing ovation from the crowd.
The night also featured an intriguing Steel Cage Match between Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens. Strowman, one of the most physically imposing wrestlers in the WWE, had been tormenting Owens for weeks leading up to the match, and Owens was hoping to pull off an upset and embarrass his larger opponent. The match was brutal and often hard to watch, with both men being thrown into the cage walls and onto the mat with alarming force. Ultimately, Strowman was able to overpower Owens and escape the cage, but Owens had put up an impressive fight and was cheered by the crowd as he limped out of the ring.
One of the most hyped matches of the night was a 30-Minute Iron Man Match between Smackdown Live's AJ Styles and Rusev. For those who are unfamiliar, an Iron Man match is a type of wrestling match in which wrestlers attempt to score as many pins or submissions as possible within a set time limit. Styles and Rusev were evenly matched and put on a clinic for the entire half-hour, with neither gaining a significant point advantage until the final moments of the match. As the clock ticked down, Styles was able to lock in a submission hold on Rusev, forcing him to tap out and securing the win.
The night ended with one of the most electrifying matches in WWE history, a No Holds Barred Match between the legendary Undertaker and the modern-day monster, Brock Lesnar. This match had been a long time coming, with fans eagerly anticipating a showdown between two of the most dominant forces in WWE history. From the first bell, it was clear that this was going to be a brutal, all-out brawl, with both men using chairs, tables, and every other weapon at their disposal to try to take each other down. Despite a valiant effort from the Undertaker, Lesnar emerged victorious, solidifying his place as one of the most fearsome wrestlers of all time.
Overall, Extreme Rules 2018 was a night of unparalleled excitement, drama, and pure entertainment. Fans were treated to some of the most ambitious and intense matches in WWE history, and every wrestler on the card proved that they were deserving of their spot on one of the biggest stages in professional wrestling. Whether you're a lifelong WWE fan or a newcomer to the genre, Extreme Rules 2018 was an event that you won't soon forget.
