X Games Munich 2013 was an extreme sports event broadcast globally by ESPN, featuring some of the world's best athletes competing in various categories such as Skateboarding, BMX, Moto X, and Rally Cross. The two-day event took place at the Olympic Park in Munich, Germany, and drew in thousands of fans from all over the world.

One of the most exciting contests was the Skateboard Street Men's Final, where the top eight skaters in the world competed for gold. Among them were the defending champion Nyjah Huston, who had won the previous year's title in Los Angeles, and his closest rivals Paul Rodriguez and Ryan Sheckler.

The final was split into two heats, with each skater given two runs to showcase their skills before being scored by a panel of judges. The skater with the highest combined score would be declared the winner. The atmosphere was electric as the competitors took to the course, which was designed to resemble a street scene with obstacles like stairs, rails, and gaps.

The first heat featured some impressive performances, especially from Brazilian Luan Oliveira, who pulled off a stunning kickflip over the handrail with ease. However, it was Paul Rodriguez who stood out with his flawless execution of complicated tricks like the switch 360 flip and the backside noseblunt slide. He earned a score of 86.33, putting him in the lead going into the second heat.

The second heat saw the skaters taking greater risks and pushing themselves further, with Nyjah Huston putting on a masterclass in technical skill and power. He landed several high-scoring tricks like the crooked grind, the backside nosegrind, and the nollie heelflip, thrilling the crowd and the judges alike. However, he fell on his final run, which allowed Ryan Sheckler to steal the show with his daring moves like the 360 flip down the set and the backside 270 lipslide. His score of 89.00 was enough to grab the gold ahead of Huston (87.66) and Rodriguez (86.33).

Another highlight of the X Games Munich 2013 was the BMX Vert Men's Final, where the riders battled it out on a towering halfpipe with a height of 13 feet. The field consisted of eight riders, including the 44-year-old veteran Jamie Bestwick, who was the reigning champion and had won every BMX Vert gold medal at the X Games since 2007.

Bestwick faced stiff competition from the likes of Chad Kagy, Vince Byron, and Simon Tabron, who all had their sights set on dethroning him. The riders each had three runs to impress the judges, who scored them based on difficulty, execution, and style.

The first run was a bit tentative, as the riders got used to the height and speed of the ramp. Bestwick, who went last, struggled to land his signature no-handed 540, which gave his rivals a glimmer of hope. However, he bounced back in the second run, pulling off a near-perfect combination of tricks like the 360 tailwhip and the flair.

The third and final run was where the riders laid it all on the line, knowing that it would take something special to beat Bestwick. Kagy went first and wowed the judges with his double flair and corked 720, earning a score of 93.66. Byron followed with a huge no-handed 900, but stumbled on his landing, which cost him some points. Tabron also had a solid run, but it wasn't enough to trouble the podium.

Finally, it was Bestwick's turn, and he knew he had to pull out all the stops. He launched himself into the air with breathtaking speed and control, executing a perfect no-handed 540, followed by a 540 flair, a decade air, and an alley-oop flair. The crowd erupted as he landed his final trick, a no-handed 900, and raised his arms in triumph. His score of 94.66 was enough to secure his seventh straight BMX Vert gold medal, cementing his status as one of the greatest riders of all time.

Overall, X Games Munich 2013 was a thrilling showcase of extreme sports talent and athleticism, with athletes pushing their limits to the delight of fans and viewers worldwide. From the Skateboard Street to the BMX Vert, the level of competition was off the charts, and the winners earned their medals through grit, determination, and sheer skill. It was a reminder of why the X Games remain the premier event for extreme sports and a testament to the enduring popularity of these thrilling and inspiring disciplines.
