Ep 5. Coming Home

The show Yellowstone (2018) season 1 episode 5 entitled Coming Home follows the ongoing feud between the Dutton family and the Reservation, with tensions reaching a boiling point. The episode begins with Kayce (Luke Grimes) returning home from war, and struggling to readjust to civilian life. Meanwhile, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) continues to fight for his land, as the Reservation tries to encroach on it. In an effort to deescalate the situation, John sends Jamie (Wes Bentley) to meet with the Reservation's leader, Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham). However, their meeting doesn't go as planned and tensions continue to rise.

We also see a lot of character development in this episode, as Beth (Kelly Reilly) begins to unravel her complex backstory. We learn more about her troubled past and the events that led her to become the ruthless and self-destructive woman she is today. We also see more of Rip (Cole Hauser), who is one of John's most loyal henchmen. He takes Kayce under his wing and tries to teach him how to be a man and defend the family.

In addition to the ongoing conflict between the Duttons and the Reservation, we also see a subplot involving Jimmy (Jefferson White), a young wrangler who is struggling to find his place at the Yellowstone Ranch. He is desperate to prove himself and become a valued member of the team, but he continuously makes mistakes and struggles with self-doubt.

Overall, Coming Home is a gripping and intense episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The character development is excellent, and the tension between the Duttons and the Reservation is palpable. Fans of drama and action will definitely enjoy this episode, as it packs a lot of punch in just one hour.
