Dead Sea is a 2014 horror-thriller film directed by Brandon Slagle, starring Britt Griffith, Alexis Iacono, JW Wiseman, and Devanny Pinn. The movie opens up with a group of friends consisting of various backgrounds and ethnicities boarding a bus in Los Angeles to head on an adventurous trip to the Dead Sea. Among them is a geologist named Dr. Jane Frankfurt (Iacono) who is researching the region's geothermal areas.

On their way to the Dead Sea, the group's bus is hijacked by three masked criminals who have some personal scores to settle with a certain passenger onboard. The situation spirals out of control, and the bus is involved in a fatal crash. The group is forced to trek through the desert to find help, and they eventually stumble upon a deserted hotel run by a strange and mysterious man named Mr. Banducci (Griffith).

Banducci agrees to let them stay at his hotel while they wait for help, but the group soon discovers that they are not alone. They are being hunted by a monstrous creature that lives in the Dead Sea, and they must fight for their survival as it picks them off one by one.

Dead Sea takes place in a bleak and barren wasteland, which provides an ominous and desolate backdrop for the story. The film boasts a well-crafted atmosphere of dread and tension, accentuated by the dark and murky cinematography. The monster is convincingly realized with practical effects and makeup, and its design is haunting, unnatural, and truly terrifying.

The characters are somewhat stereotypical but are given enough depth and development to make them relatable and interesting. While the group is diverse, their personalities and motivations are well-established. The performances by the cast are solid, with Griffith and Iacono providing the standout performances as the enigmatic Banducci and the determined Dr. Frankfurt.

The film's pacing is well-handled, with the tension steadily building towards the final showdown with the monster. The script is smartly written, with enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged and guessing. The film's themes of survival, revenge, and redemption are woven into the story seamlessly, giving the film more depth and substance than your typical horror flick.

Overall, Dead Sea is a dark, gritty, and suspenseful horror-thriller that does an excellent job of building and maintaining tension. The film's well-crafted atmosphere, solid performances, and engaging story make it a must-watch for any horror fan.
