Drag Me to Hell, a horror film that made its way to the big screen in May of 2009, begins the story off by taking a trip back in time to the late 1960's where a young boy is seemingly haunted after he steals from a Gypsy, and then is taken to hell by the haunting spirit. In the here and now a young woman named Christine, a loan officer at a bank, is walking on egg shells with her boss, and starts to refuse loans for people she would have given before. One customer, whom Christine refuses to give an extended loan to, threatens the young woman. This was not the last of the poor woman that the young loan officer will see. Later that same day the woman attacks her as she is going to her car. The old woman places a curse on Christine, which is just the start of all her new trouble.
Through trial and error Christine tries to remove the hated curse from herself. She is devastated to find that the old woman had died, and is now at a loss of how to get the curse removed. With the help of a fortuneteller and her boyfriend Clay, Christine finds herself in a séance gone wrong. The cursed spirit was supposed to enter a goat, but instead it went into another person who in turn attacked the other people there. The fortune teller is finally able to seal the evil within an envelope, but the young loan officer must give the contained curse to someone else.
Christine battles with her conscious as she considers who to hand the curse off to. With the help of the fortune teller, they come up with a plan to bury it with the old lady. Once the grave is open Christine shoves the evil curse into the corpses open mouth. Later her boyfriend reveals an envelope that he found in his car, and Christine realizes she had placed the wrong one in the grave.
