Killing Me Softly

Killing Me Softly stars Heather Graham and Joseph Fiennes. It was released in 2003. It is considered to be an erotic thriller. Alice is a young American woman living abroad in London. She lives a happy life. She has a successful career and her relationship with her boyfriend seems to be going well. One day she meets a stranger and she is instantly attracted to him. The pair have a wild sexual encounter. Alice realizes that something is missing from her relationship with her boyfriend. She returns home to him and tries to have sex with him and see if she can reignite some passion but she is unable to.

Alice goes out and finds the stranger again. She is still entranced by him so she decides to leave her boyfriend for him. The couple begins a passionate love affair and the stranger, whose name is Adam, asks Alice to marry him. Alice happily agrees. While in the processing of planning the wedding she begins to discover strange things about Adam. She finds out that Adam is a mountain climber who was on a climb that was hit by an avalanche, killing one of his fellow climbers. They keep getting mysterious letters in the mail and hang-up phone calls. Alice also discovers that he has a box of mysterious letters from an ex-girlfriend that he has been hiding from her.

Alice eventually discovers that this ex-girlfriend of Adam's has gone missing. She begins to suspect that he had something to do with it. Alice desperately tries to get help from the police but they are unable to help her. Alice then finds out that Adam's sister murdered his ex. It turns out that Adam and his sister were having an incestuous relationship and she was extremely jealous. The sister then tries to kill Alice and then Adam arrives to defend her. The sister turns her anger on Adam and then Alice kills and shoots her. Adam apologizes to Alice but it is too late. He turns himself into the police and Alice leaves. The film ends with Alice wondering if their relationship was even real and wondering if the passion would have lasted.
