In 2003, a convict is asked to participate in an experiment in order to help researchers come up with developments that can improve people's lives. He agrees and undergoes a surgical procedure. Unbeknownst to him, he is actually being changed into one of the earlier models of the Terminators. Nearly 20 years later, war has broken out between machines and the surviving humans. The humans are residing in a ship under the ocean and are plotting for a way to infiltrate the machine facility and destroy it along with all of the terminators it produces. During the human's plot to eliminate and defeat the machines the convict comes along and helps the human resistance. At first, he is suspected of being a Terminator that is looking to kill John Connor after it is revealed that he is a cyborg. However, the human resistance realizes that he is innocent. Connor and his men get into the machine's facility and look to shut it down and rescue hostages including Kyle Reese. Unfortunately, Connor gets injured but manages to get out of the facility. In the end, the convict gives his heart to Connor to ensure his survival. The human resistance looks to continue their plan to eliminate the machines for good.
