Ep 4. Chapter 4

In Eastbound and Down season 1 episode 4, titled "Chapter 4," former professional baseball pitcher Kenny Powers is tasked with coaching a local youth team, the Mermen. The episode opens with Kenny waking up in bed with his high school sweetheart, April Buchanon. Kenny's coaching methods are unorthodox, to say the least. He believes in being tough and aggressive with the kids, even going so far as to make them do pushups in the middle of a game. Things come to a head when Kenny's superstar player, Clegg, gets injured during a game. Kenny's response is to tell Clegg to "walk it off," but the other parents are outraged and demand that Kenny be fired. Guy Young tries to smooth things over with the league officials, but they ultimately decide that Kenny is too much of a liability and must be removed from his coaching position.

In the end, Kenny is left feeling both humiliated and disappointed. He had believed that coaching the Mermen would be his ticket back to fame and fortune, but instead he's left with nothing. However, there is a glimmer of hope as April tells him that she's considering moving back to town permanently. Kenny is ecstatic at the prospect of getting another chance with his old flame, but whether he'll be able to stay out of trouble long enough to make things work remains to be seen.

Overall, "Chapter 4" is a funny and entertaining episode that shows Kenny Powers at his most outrageous. Despite his questionable coaching methods, it's clear that he genuinely cares about the Mermen and wants them to succeed. However, his actions ultimately lead to his downfall, showing that sometimes being too aggressive can be just as harmful as not being aggressive enough.
